Pre-Treatment Instructions
Do NOT consume alcohol at least 24 hours prior to treatment (alcohol thins the blood and may increase risk of bruising)
Avoid anti-inflammatory/blood thinning medications, if possible up to 2 weeks before treatment. Medications and supplements such as Aspirin, Advil, Motrin, Aleve, Vitamin E, Ginko Biloba, ginseng, and St. John’s Wort have a blood thinning effect and can increase the risk of bruising and swelling after injections.
If you have any history of Herpes Simplex (cold sores) on your face, please inform your injector during your consultation, and one week prior to your appointment, This will allow us adequate time to prescribe a medication to prevent an outbreak.
Be sure to have a good meal before your appointment. This will decrease the chances of light-headedness during your treatment.
PRECAUTIONS
You would not be considered a candidate for Botox if you have any of the following:
Pregnant or breastfeeding
Myasthenia Gravis
Neuromuscular disorder
Allergy to Botulinum Toxin
Allergy to cow’s milk protein
Botox and Cosmetic Fillers: Aftercare Instructions
Do NOT have a facial or rub or massage the treated area for 24 hours after your treatment.
Do NOT lie down for 4 hours, or do strenuous exercise for 48 hours, after treatment. Also, avoid any exposure to a sauna, hot tub or tanning for four hours. This will prevent your blood pressure from rising and thus minimize the risk of bruising after treatment.
There is a rare, small chance that you may develop a headache after your Botox treatment. If this happens, please note that it is temporary, and you may take Tylenol as directed.
Be assured that tiny bumps or marks will go away within a few hours after your treatment. There is a small risk of bruising. If this occurs, do not worry as it will only be temporary, and can easily be covered up with makeup. Any little bit of bruising may last up to one week.
After Botox is placed into the targeted muscles, the weakening effect gradually begins anywhere from 2-7 days and is not complete for two weeks. Therefore, optimal results are not seen for at least two weeks.
Botox will last approximately 3-4 months at first. However, if you maintain your treatment appointments with the frequency recommended, the duration of each treatment result may last longer than four months.
Filler will last approximately 6-12 months, depending on area treated and product used.
After filler is injected, you may experience some bruising, redness, or swelling. This will all go down in time and you will feel the full effect of filler in about two weeks.
Do not massage your fillers as this may increase swelling and discomfort. Apply ice or heat to the area for comfort. The filler will settle in the face over time for a natural appearance.
